Summary
- Through the monitoring and analysis of the processing of war crimes cases, the main developments and issues are identified and addressed so as to strengthen the adherence to fair trial standards; - Enhanced transparency in the processing of war crimes cases in BiH; - Improved efficiency and effectiveness in processing war crimes cases in line with the objectives set forth in the Revised Strategy; - Enhanced capacity of prosecutors’ offices and courts in processing war crimes; -Improved effectiveness of war crimes investigations and technical and operational capacities of police investigators in war crimes cases;
Results
Key objectives of the project: • Promoting stability and reconciliation through the support of rule of law in BiH; • Ensuring effective and efficient processing of war crimes cases in judicial institutions in BiH; • Providing support to the beneficiary institutions in the implementation of the EU Grant; • Monitoring and analysis of the processing of war crimes cases in prosecutors’ offices and courts in BiH in line with international fair trial standards; • Monitoring selection panels for fairness and transparency in the engagement of support staff working on war crimes cases; • Assessing the progress and needs of judicial institutions in relation to the implementation of the Revised Strategy; • Improving communication, harmonization, and sharing of best practice between prosecutors’ offices and courts; • Strengthening technical and operational capacities of institutions for efficient processing of war crimes cases; Expected Results  Through the monitoring and analysis of the processing of war crimes cases, the main developments and issues are identified and addressed so as to strengthen the adherence to fair trial standards;  Enhanced transparency in the processing of war crimes cases in BiH;  Improved efficiency and effectiveness in processing war crimes cases in line with the objectives set forth in the Revised Strategy;  Enhanced capacity of prosecutors’ offices and courts in processing war crimes;  Increased harmonization of practice through enhanced communication between judicial institutions and dissemination of best practice;  Improved effectiveness of war crimes investigations and technical and operational capacities of police investigators in war crimes cases;  Improved effectiveness of witness support in war crimes cases;  Improved visibility and public awareness on war crimes processing in BiH.
